Ski Mom Kelly Brush Talks Ski Safety and the Kelly Brush Foundation

Kelly Brush is a ski mom, the founder of the Kelly Brush Foundation (KBF), a pediatric nurse practitioner, biker, golfer and weekend adventurer. Kelly started the Kelly Brush Foundation after a college ski racing accident left her with a severe spinal cord injury at the T 7-8 level, fractured 4 ribs, fractured a vertebra in her neck, and a collapsed lung.

Kelly had the ultimate growth mindset, and with the help of her parents set out to start the KBF to change racing safety procedures to prevent this type of accident from happening again. Today the Kelly Brush Foundation has expanded to include a variety of programs and grants that inspire and empower people with spinal cord injuries to lead active and engaged lives.

Kelly grew up skiing in Vermont, chasing her friends and family around the slopes of Stowe. At age 7 she got a taste of ski racing and going fast and fell in love with the sport.  Kelly was a strong skier in high school at the Green Mountain Valley School (Waitsfield, VT) and landed a spot on the Middlebury College NCAA Alpine Ski Team. 

Kelly tells us about her own adaptive ski equipment, skiing with her family, and their favorite apres ski traditions.
