In this episode Nicole and Sarah host ski mom Scherrie, a special education teacher in Putnam County, NY and mother of 3 skiers (boys ages 7, 10, 12). Scherrie learned to ski in her 30’s because she wanted to show her boys it’s ok to fall down and try new things at any age.
Scherrie talks about why she thinks there is a lack of diversity on the slopes and some ideas she has to improve representation across the board.
We talk about #diversityontheslopes the hashtag Scherrie started to showcase people of all colors enjoying winter sports.
Scherrie tells us about her favorite ski areas near New York City including Big Snow (indoor ski area in New Jersey), Camelback and Thunder Ridge.
Scherrie’s perfect family ski day is when the boys are in all-day ski school and they can “be together apart”.
And we can’t wait to try Scherrie’s favorite apres ski drink, a hot ginger toddy!
Keep up with the latest from Scherrie!
